The MSA 220 T is STIHL®’s most powerful cordless top-handle chainsaw. This professional arborist saw is ideal for removing pieces of trunk, crown correction, or removing dead wood and has exceptional cutting performance - the highest of all STIHL® top-handle chainsaws.

It has an electronic trigger system with an unlock button for simple saw activation, which leads to easy operation and the LED display on the top handle also shows information on the operating status of the chainsaw, as well as the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake position. The MSA 220 T has excellent power-to-weight ratio, making it comfortable to use over long periods of time. It is compact and perfectly balanced in its design – when used with the STIHL® AP 300 S battery, it counterbalances the guide bar for effortless control and reduced wrist strain.

With an easy-to-clean air filter for long service life and optimum engine cooling, excellent cutting performance, side-mounted chain tensioning, tool-free oil tank cap, captive nut on the sprocket cover. Fitted as standard with the 1.3mm 3/8” P STIHL RAPID™ PS3 saw chain and STIHL ROLLOMATIC® Light P04 guide bar for increased performance.

Like most AP System tools, the MSA 220 T is IPX4 rated meaning it can be used in all types of weather conditions. With a fully charged STIHL® AP 300 S battery, the MSA 220 T has a working time of up to 29 minutes. The STIHL® AP 300 S battery provides the best balance-to-weight ratio for the MSA 220 T. For a longer working time of 34 minutes, you can use the STIHL® AP 500 S battery - although this will affect the balance.

Fold-Out Hook

The fold-out hook is designed for easy attachment of a carrying rope, allowing for secure lowering of the saw. When not in use, the hook can be pushed in, keeping it out of the way during work or storage, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with tasks or take up unnecessary space.

Fleece Filter for Consistent Performance

The MSA 300 is equipped with a fleece filter that guarantees consistent performance, even under harsh conditions. Its fine-pored material keeps very fine dust and dirt from entering the power electronics and motor. For cleaning, remove the fleece filter, spray with STIHL Varioclean, and rinse with warm water. After drying, the filter is ready for reuse, ensuring your saw operates at peak efficiency.

Intuitive Controls and LED Display

The saw comes with an intuitive control system and a bright LED display for easy operation. It features three speed settings (20, 24, or 30 m/s) that allow users to adjust the chain speed to match the intensity of the task, maximizing battery life for lighter tasks like snedding or brashing. The display also shows key information like chain brake status and temperature warnings in red, keeping users informed about the saw’s operation.

Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning

The MSA 300 includes a side-mounted chain tensioning system for easy, secure, and quick chain adjustment. The tensioning screw is conveniently inserted through the sprocket cover, offering protected access for chain tensioning and replacement.

Sprocket Nut Retention

When changing the cutting attachment, the design ensures the sprocket nuts will not be lost, minimizing downtime and potential frustration during maintenance.
